Full Moon Chaos
On the evening of the 17th, Hogsmeade Village was alive with the sounds of howls echoing throughout the cobblestone streets and off the walls. Most locals are well aware of the protocol for full moon nights, but there’s always that one person who forgets what day it is, or loses track of time and finds themselves out in the pale light of the moon.
The front door step of the Three Broomsticks was full of action when two wolves, suspected werewolves, found their way onto the streets and one of the wolves attacked a Hogsmeade shopowner. The woman, who shall remain unnamed as the ongoing investigation continues, was able to hold her own against the first of the two wolves. Not too long after the attack begun, a second wolf arrived, seemingly summoned by howls of the first.
At this point, the shopowner was no longer on her own, as current and ex members of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement arrived and were able to not only defend against the pair of wolves, but also subdue and capture them. The pair of wolves, now back in their normal bodies and appearance, are being kept within the Department for the investigation.
While this reporter is relieved that the shopowner suffered nothing more than some minor injuries, there is no denying just how terrible the situation might have gone if things ended differently. Perhaps we all ought to use this as a perfect opportunity to be mindful and better aware of full moons as they come around, as well as the safe havens that are provided to us on such nights.
There are many questions still up in the air; Why didn’t the shopowner simply run into the Three Broomsticks? Are these wolves connected to recent attacks within the area and across other popular Wizarding communities in Great Britain? Who were the arrested wolves? How will the Ministry as a whole respond to these attacks? Time will tell.
