• If you engage in a duel as an adult, you accept the potential consequences of defeat which can include death, capture or arrest.
  •  In these circumstances your character can be put out of play. In cases of death, this would mean retirement of your character. If your character is captured or arrested, they face possible trial and a sentence in Azkaban, which could mean your character is out of play for some time or has to be retired.
  • Players must accept that if they place themselves in dangerous circumstances there shall be equal consequences. For example, should an Auror-in-Training attempt to confront a high profile dark wizard hastily, without backup, planning or the right training, they should be ready to accept that they will more than likely be severely injured or killed as a result – Aurors deal with danger on a regular basis so players need to be ready to accept the risk if they wish to RP properly.
  • In a similar vein, if you put the work into RP, e.g. tracking enemies, working towards cornering them, then you have earned your chance at killing a character.
  • If you try and kill indiscriminately, don’t expect it to go in your favour. Always be prepared for the IC consequences you may face. In certain cases should a RPer not consent to death. For example, your character being attacked for no valid IC reason, then it will be up to RPD to decide if you character has a right to life.
  • Adult duels work similarly to tournament duels at Hogwarts – the duel is over should a duelist become disarmed or become rendered unable to continue – however adult duels will have a few key differences: a duelist may surrender or forfeit, but the player must accept that they are now at the mercy of their opponent. In addition, a duel may continue until one duelist’s HUD health is completely drained (the HUD will announce this). Duels may also take place between more than 2 participants, however the post order will be left to players to determine amongst themselves. If necessary, an RPD member may be contacted to referee.
  • Not all deaths need to go through RPD for approval. By engaging yourself in an adult duel/dangerous situation then you are giving consent to IC consequences which could result in death, arrest or any other IC consequence that may remove the player on an OCC level. If necessary however, the RPD will act as a referee to ensure fair play and RP is carried out correctly.
  • Additionally, players may work out plots amongst themselves and give OOC consent to another player to kill them which does NOT need RPD approval. However, RPD holds the right to request proof of the consent should discrepancies arise.
  • Love potions, memory altering, and the otherwise removal of another player’s IC willpower requires their OOC consent. This does NOT require RPD approval. However, in the event a character loses in a duel they must accept the IC consequences. Should someone not consent and is without valid reasoning then RPD holds the right to make a decision upon questioning.
  • If a player wishes to kill another player without telling that player which adds a higher sense of danger, then a plot must be submitted to RPD documenting their RP and providing adequate proof that the RP makes sense and was sufficient enough for actual death. This MUST be approved by RPD.
  • In any event in which multiple people are going to be attacked by one RPer or more, meaning multiple character deaths, you MUST seek RPD approval
  • Any attempted killing of a student requires RPD approval and should be submitted as a plot, without exception.
