Histrionics in the Hollow
Chaos erupted during, what was expected to be, a sleepy Sunday at Godric’s Hollow which saw the arrival of the Department for Magical Law Enforcement and the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes.
A tornado was reported to have formed just outside The Beehive Stores caused by a melt down of epic proportions; a child wanting an ice cream. The swift actions of the Ministry of Magic contained the disruption that was witnessed by a handful of muggles.
“An electronic device caught the incident and was sent to the internet by one of the muggle witnesses,” Aoife O’Keeffe, Head of the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes told The Daily Prophet. “However the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee have been in contact with a source within the Meteorological Office and the Muggle media are now reporting it as a localised Tornado, similar to the Tameside incident of 2023 that was attributed to Storm Gerrit.”
Whilst first displays of magic in a muggle area are not uncommon, the scale of this incident has caused the Ministry of Magic to urge the public to immediately contact the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes if they are present during a breach of the Statute of Secrecy.
Win for Wingstad; Godric’s Hollow Mayor Selected
Stellara Wingstad found herself amid the chaotic scenes in Godric’s Hollow less than 24 hours after her big win. She found the time to give a statement out to The Daily Prophet.
“Firstly, I would like to thank those who voted me in as Mayor of Godric’s Hollow.
On my first day as Mayor, an incident happened involving a young girl’s first showing of her magical abilities. A magical windstorm was created, which caused more than a little bit of chaos and damage!
I want to thank the members of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and the Head of the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes for arriving swiftly to help with the situation. At the same time, I worked with the young girl’s older sister to calm her down.
All damages I know of have been repaired, and no one was grievously injured in the incident. If your home still has some damage from the wind storm, please let my office know so that it can be repaired.
The young girl and her sister are both fine and back at home. She is now looking forward to attending Hogwarts in September.”
