A New Age
A New Era for the Ministry of Magic was ushered in following the shock departure of Alyssa Merriweather as Minister for Magic, and the Grecession that followed the Gringotts Wizarding Bank theft, the Wizengamot convened in the last week of August.
It can now be formally announced that Kaleikaumaka Tenadii, Senior Undersecretary to the Minister, has been selected as Acting Minister for Magic until the elections later this year. The Wizengamot also agreed that as the “Gretreat” negotiations had not been completed and no formal Goblin Government had been formed, the Goblins will remain under the jurisdiction of Wizardingkind. It was also voted upon that Gringotts Wizarding Bank will now remain solely in the hands of the Wizarding Community.
Werewolf Attacks on the Rise
A three year lull in werewolf attacks has been bloodily ended this month with a Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures Ministry Employee being attacked on the night of the last full moon. There are severe worries that attacks will increase following the Grecession despite few affected by Lycanthropy being able to afford the Wolfsbane potion.
Godric’s Hollow residents have also reported attacks on the local herds which were initially thought to be due to a wild dog. Following Ministry investigations the attacks on the local herds appear to be of human origin and are under investigation. The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures encourages all wixen to ensure their homes are protected, especially at the time of the full moon, and that all afflicted with Lycanthropy ensure they are in a safe and secure space during this time for the safety of the public.
The Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes are available to place protection charms on houses for a reduced fee.
Vampire Disruptions Spread
A Vampire attack at the European Quidditch Cup seems to have instigated copycat attacks with the village of Ottery St Catchpole being reportedly surrounded by vampires for almost 12 hours before the Department for the Regulation for the Control of Magical Creatures could disband the group. They are looking in to the issue following threats of the same for Hogsmeade.
Surge of petty crime
Following the Grecession, shop and restaurant owners have reported loose change being skimmed from tills and stock depleted as desperate wixen have helped themselves due to financial insecurity. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement have advised all shop and restaurant owners to increase magical security on all tills and store rooms.
