From the Desk of the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement
At approximately 4pm yesterday afternoon Vilhelda Oovegr was murdered during her transfer to Azkaban Prison. The transfer had been going smoothly aside from the arrival of a goblin in the Ministry atrium just as the party was leaving, and the party’s arrival at the prison was uneventful. During a final security check before she was to be entered into her cell, a human-presence revealing spell detected an animagus in insect form hiding in Vilhelda’s hair. At this point the animagus took his human form and cast the killing curse on Vilhelda at point-blank range. A scuffle ensued with the DMLE officers who were escorting her, however the assailant managed to slip free and escaped the prison on a stolen broom. He was last seen casting a disillusionment charm on himself just before disappearing into the clouds.
It is unknown at what point precisely the assailant stowed away in Vilhelda’s hair. There is no record in the animagus registry matching the description of his form. The assailant in human form can be described as a man approximately 6 feet tall, with dark, very short hair. He has short facial hair and was dressed in dress trousers, a formal shirt, and a vest at the time of the attack. His animagus form is that of a very small spider with long, thin legs. It is likely he has since changed his human appearance and will attempt to flee the country if he has not done so already.
There is currently no reason for the public to fear for their safety, as it was noted that the assailant only targeted Vilhelda and did not attack any of the guards or escorts during his escape. The investigation is ongoing however this is believed to have been a targeted assassination perpetrated by Gvozdic or his followers.
