As if preparing for the biggest wizarding tournament of the season wasn’t enough this weekend the town of Little Lamplight met with a different type of peril! Witnesses report that early Friday evening a common storm that developed over the lake caused a flash flood in the area. While the sudden water flooding the streets was problem enough the real trouble came from the scores of Grindylow that used the flood as a means to invade the town. Rumours even persist of a ‘Grindylow Queen’ that was sighted and driven off by native and tourist wixen.
Is this normal behaviour for such creatures? Well, we spoke to an expert and this is what Roftchild Bergins, noted Mazioologist had to say on the matter:
“….It’s.. I’ve never given an interview before…I just speak to the quill? Is this too cl-OW! It poked me. Yes. About here? Right. Well it’s perfectly normal behaviour for a Grindylow. You see the Grindylow are a text book example of an invasive species. Meaning that they look for chances to invade whatever they can. “
Another expert, Will Dunland had this to say.
“Bergins is a blithering idiot. He wouldn’t know a Grindylow from a Hinkypuff. He only got that job because his mum knows some people who let him claim to be a ‘magizoologist’ I’ll tell you this. The only papers they let him get in hand on are the coffee orders! Now let me tell you this. If there’s one thing I know it’s the Grindylow have no need for a queen. Grindylow exist in a pluralistic multi tier democratic republic and so they have no need for a Queen. The very idea of one is rubbish and Hogwash. What these wixen think they saw is obviously a shared hallucination caused by the sound of the rain hitting the lake. That’s the only explanation. In fact due to their system of government Grindylow would never leave their territorial boundaries.”
Interesting opinions. We checked with our correspondent in the Department of Mysteries to see if this is a known phenomenon. While the only reply we got was ‘Stop wasting my time’ there has to be some shred of truth to all this. Many people report seeing the creatures as well as being tugged on the water! More on this story as things develop.
