The Unity Festival; Gone a little wrong

Sunday was meant to be a fun festival to help raise funds for people that got hurt earlier in March. I had to ask Ms Rosewood about what had happened  as not much news of this attack got to the castle. But what it was about was at  the spring opening duelling tournament,  a mob of goblin protestors appeared and attacked the duellists. No one was killed but about ten  duellists and  several  bystanders ended up in St Mungo’s. So the Unity festival was held to raise funds to help their healing.

For those of you that went to the Unity festival it was quite fun! They had lots of vendors and my Aunt had special Easter stuff at the Honeydukes booth. They had Some quidditch based games and Qhroma to play as well!. And a big broom race that was going on as I showed up. I don’t know who won that for but I think it was Persephone Vitrac!

But the draw was the duelling exhibition! Two sets of professional duellists and one of them was Bonnie! And she won her match. The other match was won by a duellist named Crush who has a cool clockwork broom! They were exciting to watch as the pro duellists go a lot harder and more showy than we do at school. 

All the fun and enjoyment though was overshadowed a bit however by yet another group of goblin protesters. They were being kept out by some shields put up by Aurors and DMLE patrol, but you could hear them. And if, like me, you came late and had to try to go near them to get in they would throw rotten fruit at you. It was a little scary but I had a good escort to keep me safe.  And since the last time they were allowed in a place people got hurt, I think it was good that the Aurors had put a shield up. They had hammers and shields and who knows what else!

They seem to be protesting something to do with Goblin gold and goblin rights. I’m a little confused over just what it is they are upset over. But I do hope it can be worked out in a better way than has been; a good sit down with the people that can actually help them may be needed! They left sometime during the second duelling match and I really hope things can get settled between Wixen and Goblins without people getting hurt again.
