Conflict in Europe
Calls for International Intervention
Minister Shake-Up in Norway
Goblin Groans Continue in France
The Dark Mark Seen – What Does This Mean?!
Disaster strikes Scandinavia as the civil war continues to rage on. With the group known as ‘The Friends of Golovin’ seemingly fighting a losing battle against the Traditionalist forces of the Scandinavian peninsula. Just this last weekend an attack was held in Stockholm on the famous Trolddom Street by the Traditionalist forces, causing the deaths of twelve citizens believed to be of Muggle or mixed – Veela or Goblin – ancestry. Twenty five arrests have been made, with four remaining in Hospital for critical curse related injuries, though it is understood that once stabilised they too shall be arrested by the Traditionalist forces. Many in Europe have been decrying these arrests, as the German Ministry has spoken of proven acts of Danish Aurors bringing Swedish fugitives across the border to be tried and imprisoned on Danish land. German representative Einarr Hoffman had this to say to Daily Prophet International Correspondent Claxley Heath: “It is completely wrong, and the German Ministry – and as I understand it many of our neighbours in Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria – remain poised and ready to provide medical and diplomatic aid to those caught in the middle of this struggle.”
This sentiment isn’t necessarily shared in the rest of Europe however. Across the mountain border, newly elected Minister for Magic Ren Dolusdotter of Norway has taken a more direct action of her own. Speaking with the press in her first conference, the civil war in the rest of Scandinavia – one that has not quite reached Norway on account of swift action by the ruling parties in the Nation – was of course a hot topic of contention. Minister Dolusdotter had this to say on the subject: “Of course, we in Norway find it deeply troubling when the rest of the peoples of Scandinavia are struggling so. This conflict must come to an end, a status quo must be reached where life may return to normal. This is our primary objective, this is why we find ourselves in positions of power. If not to help the people, then what for?”
Soon after this press conference, Norwegian Auror forces were spotted on the borders of Sweden corroborating with Danish and Swedish Traditionalist forces. In a move tragically regarded by the International community as ‘expected’ – thanks to links between MInister Dolusdotter and countless other Traditionalist-linked politicians – it would appear that Norway is finally playing its hand in the region. Experts believe that the conflict will soon come to a close, with reports from inside of the region that Durmstrang, the source of the political discourse, is likely to fall within the coming weeks, if not days.
Of course, involvement in the conflict does not stop there, with many international forces being seen, volunteers fighting on both sides, though primarily on the sides of the Traditionalists, with forces from Italy, Russia, the Balkan nations and even Britain being present. When one such Scottish volunteer spoke with war correspondent Michael Mugstone, they had this to say: “We don’t care what the fight is, we just want to fight! If you’re asking for news about the scrap you’re best off talking to Menoetius! He’s in with the new Minister!”
In news closer to home, Goblin Silversmith Gordelain Geldigog has finally been released from St Mungos care. Despite sustaining many life changing wounds, Mr Geldigog has pulled through and now faces a life away from the crimes committed against him. Whilst the Artistic community mourns that this century’s greatest Silversmith will never create again, Gordelain remains thankful for St Mungo’s expert care, before bringing forth talks of returning to conversations regarding Gretreat, and stiffer laws at division between the two magical peoples.
In Paris, just this week gone, further Goblin violence flared up in the capital of France, with the French Goblin community demanding control and secession of the French Gringotts branch, along with the granting of all magical communities within the French Riviera for the formation of their own state.
In Beauxbatons it is reported that the small number of Part-Goblin students have been experiencing a higher rate of bullying within its ranks, with some of them having to be withdrawn from school by concerned parents. Many are pointing at the Felicia Rouge Homeschooling advertised in Britain, with requests for an organisation like that to be set up in France to avoid this conflict. The French Ministry has refused to comment on this, but the Daily Prophet’s Goblin Correspondent Grock Gitzit has it on good authority that ‘tensions between Wixen and Goblin society could only be resolved if the Wixen Ministries would be happy to return the rights to the currency of our world to Goblinkind and to return to the status quo.’
Trouble across the pond has risen as a Statute of Secrecy breach was only barely contained by US Obliviators after a HideBehind attacked a Muggle ‘television’ crew who were ‘hunting for monsters in Appalachia’. Though the Obliviators were able to hide the majority of the damage, the HideBehind remains at large. Though the US Ministry has found itself far more wrapped up in the goings on across the pond in the Old World, with the conflict between Goblins and Wixen across France, and civil war in Scandinavia, the Dark Mark being seen above London but weeks prior has drawn America’s attention, with the US Minister demanding for international talks between all nations. It is of no surprise to some however that they have directly called for discussions between Scandinavia, France and Britain, and many believe that this is another ploy by the Minister to argue Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’s place within the upcoming Tri-Wizard Tournament, due to take place next year.
