It’s been hard to miss, for most of us, that at least once a week since we returned from break the castle has shaken some. And each shake has gotten stronger. I set about investigating what could be the cause and have learned a few things.
It is not the ground shaking the castle, but the castle shaking itself. In fact, the reason I said most people found the shakes hard to miss is that so far they have not been strong enough, or loud enough for Professor Dracheblume to notice them down in the groundskeepers hut! Not even that last one.
Speaking of the last one, a crack has appeared in the dungeons after it. It’s not clear if it’s due to the shakes or not but the timing says it was due to the shakes. Combing several other underground areas with a few prefects has shown it’s the only crack. It also either does not go all the way through the wall it’s in or the wall is made of two rows of stones as there is no crack in the Yearbook office that is on the direct other side of it.
[Publisher’s Note: Since the writing of this article the crack has in fact grown and small piles of rubble have shaken loose.]
Now to the cause? I believe it must be a magical source as it’s the only logical reason. As to the WHY? That I don’t know yet. The castle’s been known to do weird things like move rooms about or have new ones appear so maybe its that again just, more dramatic? Jeeves has been suggested but I am pretty sure he’s not powerful enough to shake the entire castle. And I am pretty sure the only adults powerful enough to cause it to shake, wouldn’t do that. So it’s GOT to be the castle right?
The paintings don’t know much of anything useful, other then its happening. And I think they are getting a little tired of being asked.
Some people have said that the professors don’t care about what’s going on. But I think it’s just, they aren’t worried yet. And when they get worried something will be said. Or they are doing that thing Adults do where they look into stuff without telling us students.
I’m more curious about the shakes then worried about them or the crack. But if they get stronger, that may change. Only time will tell! But don’t stress, one crack in the dungeons isnt gonna bring the castle down. They’ve had worse happen and the castle still stood in the past after all!
