It’s Marigold again! Ok, last week I gave you a list of some terms. This week. Some of the equipment you will most commonly need! Some recipes will call for very specific items and may not be common in your kitchen. But don’t worry! I list all the needed equipment along with all the needed ingredients in my recipes! So you won’t get any surprises in the middle of making something and suddenly find out you may need a flan mold.
For the record, there are a lot of things you can use to get the same result if you don’t have a flan mold. Also, I don’t really post a lot of recipes that need a flan mold.
I will try to give you both a magical and a muggle method in my recipes. That way if you want to make it on break when you can’t use magic you still can! You’ll need more than your wand then for a lot of it!
So here we go!
Wand! There are spells you or someone old enough to know it can use that mimic a lot of muggle devices.
A very clean cauldron! If you’re going to make food a lot you may want some just for it and not potion making as well. Or just use one of the next items.
Bowls, of all sizes! Mixing bowls can be used instead of Cauldrons.
Saucepans of all sizes. Which also can be used instead of Cauldrons.
Spatula
Whisk
Spoons of all sizes.
Cookie sheets of all sizes
Cooling racks.
All the cookie cutters you can get your hands on.
Forks
Knifes
Icing bags and tips
Double broiler. This is a pan that sets into another pan with water in the lower pan. It’s used to melt chocolate and stuff without burning it. You can also nest a metal bowl into your cauldron to make one.
Candy Thermometer. – a special thermometer that you can stick into hot candy to see how hot it is. much more accurate than using the water method.
Measuring cups – you’ll want both the individual ones for dry ingredients and the big one with the spout for wet.
Measuring spoons. These are different than normal spoons as they are a specific size that are called for in recipes to measure out ingredients. They tend to have a very short handle.
Kitchen scale Some recipes give ingredients in weights and not other measurements, so you’ll want to weigh them out.
Citrus juicer
Multi size grater. – Some things need to be grated to bigger sizes than others.
Nutcracker or hammer
Rolling pin
Sifter
Insulated baking sheet – this is a special double-layer baking sheet that has a space between the top and the bottom of it and is the best sheet to use for delicate pastries.
And that’s all I can think of now. Like I said each recipe will get its full equipment list on it.
