Welcome to Weekly Portents, your one and only source for all things prophetic!
In Weekly Portents I, the one and only Riven Redwhisper, will be giving a special reading to let you know what to expect at Hogwarts in the coming days, weeks, months, and beyond! But that’s not all, dear reader! The cards tell me you should expect much much more in the future including personal readings to answer questions you’ve submitted, tips and tricks to improve your own Divinations game, and I even have an interview lined up with a real live seer! Yes, I know it’s been months since I first promised all these things but rest assured, they WILL happen! Eventually!
What are the Sooths saying? What are the Oracles orating? What are the augers articulating? Check in each week to find out!
7/4/2029
Hello hello and welcome, once again, to another daring adventure through the dark and mysterious haze of things that have yet to be! Gather round and maybe grab a machete to hack our way through the many tangled vines and such on our adventure into the future!
Feels like ages since I did this but last time we discussed… something or other. Think I did scrying? Whatever, I’ll just assume that my prediction came true and everything turned out great and you’ve all grown and are enriched and such by it. What can I say except you’re welcome!
Right right right, onto the future and such. It’s why we’re here innit?
I’ve decided to hop back to the old reliable tarot for this week. Since there’s a nice long break coming up I figured we should ask the very powers that bind this universe and beyond what to expect or be wary of during break!
Figured we’d go back to the old three card spread. Past, present, and future and all that. If you’ve been reading you know the bloody drill by now but if not you’ve got some research to do.
For my locale tonight I’ve chosen a nice little spot along the lake in a little hilly alcove sort of thing protecting me, and more importantly my cards, from the wind. There’s just a little splash of orange in the sky from the setting sun, the moon’s starting to pop up over the trees, and it’s that hour or so of perfect stillness that happens late in the evenings sometimes.
I shuffled and shuffled until my heart told me to stop, then I pulled my three cards and placed them in front of me. There’s a long, heavy, and tranquil moment before I turn the first card. The past:
Four of cups, reversed
This card typically represents negativity, remorse, or stagnation but reversed puts an interesting spin on it. The card reversed could be referring to self reflection or positive opportunities or it could just be referring to a time when we were more withdrawn socially.
Let’s check the next card and see how it fits. The present:
Knight of wands, upright
Rather interesting fit with the previous card, the knight of wands tends to refer to a surge of energy or passion that we’re putting into something. Sometimes it could refer to a rebellious or hot-headed attitude so maybe tread cautiously if you know anyone like that. In this case though, it’s probably about the surge of energy and renewal and such that springtime brings but hard to tell just yet.
And now for the last card. The future:
Page of pentacles, upright
Oh wow, a very springy spread this week! Good news is that the page of pentacles is typically the bearer of good news which sounds like pretty good news to me! It’s a card full of energy and innocence that could represent the young or young at heart but it can point to education, learning, and inspiration stuff. However, it can also represent new beginnings and all that too so it kinda sounds like I was just told to expect springtime this spring. Thanks cards, dunno how I’d have figured that one out without you!
Anyway, let’s smash all this together, yeah?
The four of cups feels like it’s talking about hibernating for the winter like we’ve been doing these past months. The cold winter time where everything just sorta stops to wait out the snow. While it does represent change, it’s loads more calm and introspective than the other two cards. More of a “let’s think about our opportunities” card than “LET’S BLOODY GO” like the other two. Sounds like knight of wands is telling us this springtime energy’s already started building up while the page is telling us it’ll only get more springy from here.
Sounds pretty alright. Reckon it’s better than the alternative of doom, gloom, and all that. So get out there and enjoy the nice springy break, enjoy the weather, and enjoy life I guess.
That’s all for this week’s words of importents. Have a lovely break and until next time, friends!
