This is a one *or two if you add nuts* treat that is easy to make. Just make sure you get pure REAL maple syrup and not anything maple flavoured. Read the ingredients!
You will need!
Ingredients
- 2 cups pure maple syrup
- ½ cup chopped walnuts, peanuts or almonds (Optional)
Equipment needed
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Bowls
- Heavy saucepan or your cauldron
- Candy thermometer
- 1 – 2 inch silicone candy molds in whatever shape you want.
- WOODEN spoon
Instructions
- Step 1
In a large heavy-bottomed saucepan, or your VERY VERY clean cauldron, bring the maple syrup to a boil over medium-high heat stirring occasionally. Boil until syrup reaches 235 degrees F (110 degrees C) on a candy thermometer. - Step 2
Remove from heat and let it cool to 175 degrees F (80 degrees C) without stirring, about 10 minutes. - Step 3
Stir the mixture rapidly with a wooden spoon for about 5 minutes until the colour turns lighter and the mixture becomes thick and creamy. Stir in the chopped nuts now if you’re adding them. - Step 4
Pour into molds. Set aside to cool. Once cool, unmold candy. Store in airtight containers for up to 1 month.
