These are a quick fun and messy treat to make that you see a LOT this time of year. I’m honestly not super sure just WHY they got a Winter Holiday association but hey, have fun making them!
You will need!
Ingredients
- 60 maraschino cherries with stems
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 3 tablespoons corn syrup
- 2 cups sifted confectioners’ sugar
- 1 pound chocolate confectioners’ coating
Equipment needed
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Bowls
- Paper towels
- Saucepan
- Sifter
Instructions
- Step 1
Drain cherries and set on paper towels to dry. Make sure to leave the stems on! - Step 2
In a medium bowl, combine the butter and the corn syrup until smooth. Stir in the confectioners’ sugar and knead to form a dough. Chill to stiffen if necessary. Wrap each cherry in about 1 teaspoon of dough. Chill until firm. Be careful to leave the stems on you need them in the next step! - Step 3
Melt confectioners’ coating in a heavy saucepan over low heat until smooth. Dip each cherry in by its stem, and place on waxed paper lined sheets. Chill until completely set. NOW you can try to take the stems off, or leave them on just don’t eat them. Store in an airtight container in a cool place. Best after 1 or 2 weeks.
