What was meant to be a celebratory lunch before the last task last week turned into a brawl of epic proportions with far reaching consequences.
As students entered the Great Hall last Friday for lunch they were greeted by tables full of the champions and their seconds’ favourite foods. So it was an eclectic mix of them! I went right to the crab legs – one of my favourites! As everyone sat and enjoyed the meal Durmstrang was seated not at their usual Slytherin table but with Griffendor, and oddly Gabriel was with them. It had not been said that he was free of the isolation room but I guess just for this meal he was.
The meal was wonderful, everyone was enjoying themselves. Then the Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports, Ms Lark Rosewood, called the Champion up to give a speech. It sounded like it would be a neat idea, to hear them say something about their time here and what it meant to be their Schools’ Champions.
That is not what happened. At. All.
The first and only Champion to speak was Lars, Durmstrang’s champion, and his words were shocking.
“My Headmaster was killed in this hall. He was poisoned. We stood by his bed, me and my Durmstrang, and we swore to avenge him. Time has passed. The gods.. they make you wait.. but now..” And there he pointed to Headmaster Gvozdic “This man killed him. And we have the proof.”
Everyone not from Durmstrang was told to clear the room which we mostly did, but then a lot of us crowded around the door to the great hall to watch. So… I can’t really say a lot about what was said, but I could see enough. It looked like someone called for something, as Dominik brought out a paper and held it up.
More was said that I could not hear and, then Lars and Gabriel started to beat up the former headmaster while it looked like Dominik was protecting O’Keeffe while something happened. And Aurors were called and after a bit people came in. Whatever evidence they had against the Headmaster must have been good enough as he was taken away just as Dagmar Gaard was brought in after apparently having been tied up by Gvozdic
So it seems like the mystery of who poisoned Golvin was solved and when he appeared after The Third Task, he said farewell and was happy enough to cross over (f course he took the time to party a bit) but after some time he went up to the Willow and most on the ship followed him. . He mentioned how pleased he was that at last, all three schools stood united in friendship as some of his parting words. And then he just faded away, and each school in turn paid respects in their own ways.
