Some people think there’s not much to do after the Hearty Party in our school year other than the Easter feast but this year that is not true! Students have taken initiative to host things for all of us! Some for fun, some for fun AND to share a bit of their culture
The first of these is hosted by Essa and it is Newroz, or Kurdish New Year’s. And will be held This upcoming Sunday March 21st down by Dracheblume’s Hut and the pumpkins.
Essa has said that Newroz is a fun celebration that involves lots of good food and fire! It is the Kurdish celebration of the Persian new year holiday and is held at the Spring Equinox. There will be traditional foods so you get to try out foods from a new culture! Other traditions Essa will be hosting and telling us about is a bonfire jump and pot breaking! And she will tell us more about the holiday.
The 20th is the Spring equinox, YAY the start of spring officially! And also as a side note my Aunt Taffy’s Birthday. So if you’re old enough to go into Hogsmeade tell her happy birthday!
The next event will be on March 27th and will be a Spring Fling Party in the duelling room. Just a fun time to hang out with dancing and party food in a spring atmosphere. It starts at 3! Dress how you want. And its ok to show up late. Its being hosted by a small group of Students.
In April the castle will have its annual Easter egg hunt. Check in the foyer of the Great Hall for the baskets when that starts! It usually runs for about a week or so. And an Easter dinner will be hosted in the great hall on April 3rd.
After that there’s no huge events for a bit., though I do see Quidditch Scrimmage games starting up on the calendar so keep an ear out for more information on those! I’ve heard rumours of Duel club starting up as well but no information on that.
So, there is still loads of fun to have outside of classes now! And if I hear about more I’ll report it!
