The world is ever changing and with each new generation the concerns of the youth vary. We hope that our voices are heard amongst the echoing arguments of the adults, who look at us as nothing more than children. It is through the youth representative to the Wizengamot, that we have a voice that is heard in unison. This position comes with great responsibility, and the weight of the entire youth population of all of Britain falls upon those selected to represent us. The time has come for the passing of the torch from Miss Essa Nazari to Miss Siren Resling. With the exit of Miss Nazari, she had a few things to leave us all to think about and ponder.
In the interview with Miss Nazari, she was asked what the experience was like for her and what lessons did she take from the experience. “I learned a lot about myself and about the wizarding world as a whole.” Miss Nazari also had this to say about the position of Youth Representative, “I hope that as the torch is passed on that they realise how heavy of a burden it will be. It’s literally people’s lives that are being dealt with when they are there.” One could come to understand the gravity when one thinks of the opinions of every youth of Britain being left to one person being the representing voice.
In this situation the opportunity was taken to ask Miss Nazari what advice she had for her successor, stepping into the position. “Just to listen through the words. Everyone has a story and is determined to have their story be the one that is believed. It is not a social status. It is literally a situation that will impact people’s lives.” Miss Nazari also added “Also, take time to do research on any legislation that might come down the path. How will it affect not only students but the school as a whole? Every law is an action, and every action has a reaction.” Wise advice from someone who has been in the position over the last year.
Miss Nazari wished to leave the youth a message in her departure from her position. “I think it goes back to listening. Just hearing people but actively hearing what people are trying to say even if they can’t get it out properly.” Jokingly Miss Nazari tossed in, “That and stop judging people just because of who their family is. That was so the 1990’s.” Miss Nazari accomplished much of what she had set out to do while in her position. That leaves many of us wondering just what is to come? With the passing of the torch, it makes everyone wonder just who is stepping into the role of youth representative to the Wizengamot?
Representing a body of people, can be a large responsibility for anyone. The voices of all awaiting to be heard and relayed, their messages acknowledge. When Miss Resling was asked about her appointment to the position, she had this to say on the matter, “Honestly, I try not to think of how big of a responsibility it is, or I tend to get overwhelmed.” she also added “But I try to think about what other people would want while I’m in the courts, not just about my needs.” One can only imagine what this responsibility can feel like, but until you are doing the work it would be hard to phantom.
When Miss Resling was asked about how her newly appointed positions would help her to understand the inner workings of the ministry, she had this to say. “I think it can give insight to not only me but give more opportunities for young wizards to be a part of the Ministry and understand the ministry better if they knew their voice was being heard.” On a more personal note, she added “I didn’t know much about the ministry when I started, but I think it’s a great opportunity for me to learn, and also put my foot in the door for opportunities in the future.” One can only hope with Miss Resling’s positive outlook for the future, that she can continue with the ongoing momentum with the youth’s voices being heard.
When Miss Resling was asked if she had anything that she wished to say to the youth, which she is now representing, she left us with these words. “Now, to the youth I’m now representing. I want to be a person that can listen to what their needs are and be someone they can bounce their ideas off of for the Wizengamot. I want to be a better person, and more of a social butterfly that can help do better for this school, and i think this position can help me do that, and I hope with hard work and training, I can do the job justice.” Miss Resling realizes that she has some very big shoes to fill with Miss Nazari’s departure from the position.
Although it is with a heavy heart that we are not only saying farewell to Miss Nazari in her position with the Wizengamot as youth representative, at the end of this year she will be departing from Hogwarts as well as a finished 7th year. With great work comes great opportunity for those that are willing to strive for greatness and to aspire to be the future leaders of the world. Miss Nazari has accepted a position within the ministry, beginning after her graduation. She will be joining the ranks of those already serving our Nation as the newest member of the Wizengamot. To Miss Resling, be prepared for what is to come and always stay on your toes. The youth of the nation is here and wanting to be heard.
