So, Perse said that since this was my idea, I have to write the header. I’m much better with my paintbrush then I am with the written word, so let’s hope I don’t muck this up too much.
This year, your year as head girl, has been calmer than most of the recent years. But the few problems that have risen, you handled as best you felt you could and with grace. You made your mark and will keep making it as you leave to the job you already have waiting for you.
You are loved and will be missed, and never forgotten.
And from now on, whenever you get an award, you’ll get to give that speech!
We went to students to collect some farewell words for you from them all. Try not to cry too much.
-Aisling
“It was kind of fun to borrow your red hair for a while. Please stay safe, the world out there is even more dangerous than it was here.”
-Varius Corvus
“So long, Highlander. See you in the future.”
-Kamila Bullstrod
“See you on the outside, but make sure to save a snog for Iggy.”
-The Not-Twins
“Angel, we weren’t friends all year. Mild acquaintances at first, mostly exposed to one another due to mutual friends and Owl Post but… I’m glad that we became friends. I’m glad I’ve had someone to share my secrets with and someone to make uncomfortable with my jokes. I would have had a lot more trouble this year if it wasn’t for you, though I won’t pretend that you didn’t cause your fair share too. (I’m not sure if I’ll ever hear the spell Diffindo being cast without instantly panicking.) When Aisling brought the idea of a farewell article for you, I didn’t hesitate in telling her yes, because you definitely deserve it for all your work with the Post. I’m gonna miss you, so make sure you send me photos from all your fancy parties, and letters about your trips. And if Macauley gives you trouble, you know where to find me. That said… this isn’t goodbye, I’ll see you soon.”
-Persephone Vitrac
“Dear Saffron Foxclaw. It has been rather interesting, living with a witch of Veela heritage. My auntie Goblina often claims that she is part Veela, especially when she sprays her herring-oil perfume, ready for a night out in the cemetery. As a thank you for being such an inclusive and interesting Head Girl, and eventual friend, I shall have a bottle personally sent to you by Owl over the Summer. With grim regards, in death, despair and untold misfortune.”
-Dottinous Foul.
“Saff, Thank you for pushing me further than I thought I could be pushed. Thank you for everything.”
-Essa Nazari
‘’We have not known each other for long, but I already consider you a great friend. You’re smart, funny, and an absolute treasure. George should really consider himself lucky. And even though I’m sad you’re graduating, I can’t help but at the same time feel happy for you. I really do hope you succeed with all your ambitions, one of them approaching soon. See you at the wedding!
-Lia Swahn’’
“Much appreciation for all that you have done this year. You will be missed. Many hopes that the next chapter in your life is just as grand.”
-Jayden Lukas
“Saffron, thank you for all you did at Hogwarts, especially being a head girl and editor of the Owl Post. I’m going to miss you and hope you find your endeavours to be successful, whatever you will be doing from this point on. Congrats on graduating. Hope to see you during the summer.“
-Raven Stormborn
“So long and thanks for all the fish.”
-BrynHilde Mclachlan
“Saff, I’m glad we could get on eventually this year. I don’t think Hogwarts will be quite the same without that redhead of yours. You’re certainly my best Head Girl, and you won’t be soon forgotten. Good luck with that writing gig, smash it”
-Fletch
“Miss Foxclaw, it has been a pleasure being your Head of House for the short time I was. You made my transition into the position a little easier, which is more than I could have ever expected in a Head Girl. In this short time you have proven yourself to be a talented and intelligent young lady, and an expert dueler. You will certainly stand out in whatever you pursue in the future.”
-Professor Eidolon
“For some time now, I’ve known you’d be moving on and tried to think of the best way to say goodbye. It dawned on me, however, that a goodbye requires a departure. Relationships of all sorts come and go. We head off in different directions, concluding our time together. We say goodbye to the graduating Hogwarts class, but you’ve been more than just a student.
You’re the ginger Veela that lit up our halls. So many put you on a pedestal for your beauty and accomplishments, but you’ve also shown hard work and humanity. You’re a friend, a mentor, a fashion icon, an aspiration. For your deep involvement, sacrifices, and dedication, you’ve become a strong and pleasant memory to many. Through the Owl Post and its staff, you leave a legacy.
We carry our memories with us always and legacies live on. You’ve left a permanent mark at Hogwarts that will be here always. I wish you the best of luck with the next chapter in your story, but I can’t rightly say goodbye when so much of you is left with us as fond memories, hopes, and goals.”
