Hello there, dear reader! It’s been several weeks since our last journey into the future but welcome back to my domain. Sit back, take a deep breath, and maybe have yourself a nice cup of tea as we prepare for our fearless expedition into the future!
But before we begin all that I have some exciting news! I’ve been in contact with our resident Divinations professor, the ever mysterious Professor Fujioka, about collaborating on a future edition of Portents! So look forward to that next week or maybe the week after or perhaps sometime after that. Whenever I manage to get around to it.
Anyway, onto this week’s reading!!
It’s been a cold, blustery, and snowy week so I’ve decided that some Cryomancy is in order. Divination by studying ice or snow. No clue if that’s a real word or real thing but someone penciled it into the back of an old Divs book I found in the library so figured it’s worth a shot.
What awaits us in these cold blustery winter months!? Let’s find out together!
I dragged my cauldron outside and filled it with snow and am now sitting in an undisclosed location within the castle. It’s nice and warm and toasty here and I don’t think anyone will mind a puddle on the floor in here when I’m done.
I’ve drawn a big Divination Circle thing on the floor in chalk with loads of symbols and things along the edge. Seems like how this works is that I make a big snowball at the center of the circle and which way the water spreads when it melts will give us our reading.
So I focus my thoughts on the question at hand. But what am I seeking guidance on today? I think just some general guidance about these cold wintery months ahead is in order.
I start by just scraping all the snow out of my cauldron and start balling it up in the center but I got sort of bored and built a little snowperson instead. Let’s call it a “human effigy” because it sounds cooler and much more mystical that way. Guess you’re supposed to burn an effigy but burning snow is quite difficult so melting at room temperature will have to do.
Anyway, now I wait! Guess the room isn’t quite as warm as I thought because it takes way longer than I expected but it’s finally done! Our effigy has been melted away and what do I see!?
Well, the snow melted and spread out in a big puddle on the floor. Dunno what I expected, really. Looks like the puddle is running further toward the little squiggle symbol with lines running through it and another symbol on the other side that looks like a weird legless dog or something?
According to the notes the squiggle symbol represents time and the other one’s like a modifier that typically refers to something being big or strong. Hmm… guess we should keep our snowboots handy because I think we were told to expect an extra long and harsh winter this year.
Just lovely.
Well that’s all the good news I have for you today. Bundle up and stay warm out there and I’ll see you… in the future!
