England 200, South Africa 60
England headed home a winner as they finally broke down South Africa’s defence to emerge with a 200 – 60 triumph this afternoon, as both countries battled each other in Argentina.
The double attacking threat of South Africa’s Beaters Friedrich Engelbrechtand VAndre Arendse delivered harshly at holding England’s Chasers at bay. New Zealand looked on course for a well-earned, unexpected win before Seeker Jackie Morgan swooped in seconds before South Africa’s Seeker Neliswa Mbete, grabbing the snitch with an unprecedented grace.
Ireland 310, Russia 120
Ireland staged a remarkable comeback to beat Russia 310 – 120 and pick up the win at the World Cup stage in Lahore, Pakistan.
Russia raced out to a 60-0 lead in the first 5 hours, with Ireland’s Oison Blaney converting an injury in the 27th minute with Russia’s star Chaser Anna Starikova launching a blazing quaffle that cracked Blaney’s left wrist, to double her team’s lead with an excellent heated start.
Ireland struck back with a fiery vengeance and stratum in support of their injured team-mate and sent Russia into the dressing room. Blaney left the pitch with cheers having played on with injury, insuring fans a bound that they would play on!
