Hello there, Hogwarts! Welcome to our wee feature on all the castle pets. My name is Aaleia Goldstein, but you can just call me Leia. I am a brand-new first year Hufflepuff straight from the Highlands of Inverness.
And now, my very best wee [frog] pal Pipes wants to say hi!
Let me tell you all about her. When I first found her back home, the poor wee thing was so sick it took days nursing her right back to health. Once she got better, she started letting out these bonny, high-pitched, musical croaks. That is why back home everybody calls her the little opera singer!
Our adventures started long before we even reached the school gates, mind you. On the train ride here, I had a bit of a fright because I thought Pipes was lost! She was sitting right in my arms and then jumped down, but I thought she went tumbling to the floor. Some of my new friends in the train compartment were helping me look everywhere for her, until all of a sudden I realized she was sitting snug in my pocket the whole time!
Now that we are all settled in, Pipes just loves to explore every nook and cranny of the castle. She is always poking about, checking out the castle cats, and causing an absolute mountain of mischief wherever she goes. And let me tell you, she always likes to put her wee two cents in on everybody’s conversations like she understands every single word folks are saying.
Keep your ears open when you are walking down the halls, because if you hear a bonny wee opera song, you’ll ken right away that Pipes is up to no good again!
