The honourary Creature of the Month for October is the demiguise! This adorable and spooky creature has the unique talent of turning itself invisible, and is believed to have the gift of seeing the immediate future!
Demiguises are not very large, usually only getting about 2-4 feet tall and weighing approximately 30-50lbs. Their bodies are covered in thin, wispy hair and they have large black or amber-colored eyes. Their appearance is somewhat similar to that of a small ape or a sloth… if you can see it.
Native to East Asia, these creatures are actually quite difficult to find in the wild, as one might imagine. They are experts of concealment, and likely won’t be found unless they are trying to be found. It takes a very knowledgeable and talented witch or wizard to track down these beautiful creatures. No one is quite sure where the demiguise’s invisibility power comes from, but they are definitely fond of using it.
Why do we seek them out in the wild at all, you may wonder? Demiguise hair can be used to make an incredibly valuable magical item: invisibility cloaks! This unique feature of the Demiguise is precisely why we chose it for October’s Creature of the Month. What could possibly be spookier than a creature so adept at stealth that its very hairs can create an object that completely conceals someone else? You would never see it coming!
