Look around. Leaves are brown. And, the sky is a hazy shade of winter
Winter’s here! We’ve made our first snowy weekend visit to Hogsmeade. There’s only more snow to come. That begs the question, what’s the latest on the winter fashion front? Answer: White. That’s right. White is the go-to colour for winter this year. It’s no longer just for summer-only tennis clothes. We’ll be seeing lots of creme, eggshell and titanium shades gracing our winter sweaters, pants and suits. I just love my winter white cosy faux-fur hoodie. Who wouldn’t? Warmth and style. What else can one ask for?
Next up! Prairie dresses and cottage core are in. Flowing midi romantic dresses are all the rage this winter. Lots of ruffles, linen and gauze. Have you heard about nap dresses? A current fashion trend. Is it hot or is it not? These dresses are for dining out or staying at home. They work just as well for sitting on the couch and reading a good book as they would for that afternoon boathouse date. And, after all the excitement of the day they can be napped in without a second thought. These dresses are so comfortable that they are easily accepted and worn as casual dressy or as a nightgown. Think of the softest fabrics such as silk, linen, poplin or crepon. They are even made out of pre-wrinkled fabrics! Who knew? No ironing is such a bonus. No muss no fuss.
Let us not forget about the super cozy jumpers and sweaters that are made of cashmere and thick knit or weave. These are my basic winter staple. I just can’t get enough. For an updated look add some plaid pants, skirts or what have you. In no time, you’ll be sporting it like the cool kids! As it gets even colder, accessorize with beanies, mittens and scarves in your house colours. You’ll be glad that you did.
To top it all off! Try a warm cozy coat or hoodie like mine. Or, you might opt to go for the tailored riding coat. Equestrian garb is all the rage this season. Lots of people are making their way back to the stables in smartly tailored coats and pants. Add some riding boots to finish off your look with style. Seems like a great thing to wear whilst out and about to care for some of our magical creatures.
If it’s snowtime fun you are after, try out some snow bibs, ski jackets, sleds and ice skates. Snowball fights, sledding or skating around all sound like brilliant ideas to me! Don’t forget to warm up with the hot chocolate afterwards.
I know this goes without saying… but, have you picked out your Yule Ball ensemble yet? What’s the hold up!?! You only have a few weeks left. There’s sure to be fur flying and satin swooshing. I can’t wait to see you all at your most stunning ever! And, don’t forget the lipgloss (for those of you who are brave enough to wear it). Good luck!
