Suspiciously missing exam results are causing a “major disruption” to Hogwarts graduates.
Reports have slowly been trickling in that graduates and sixth year students have yet to receive their NEWT and OWL results, respectively. For several months speculation has been rife as to the cause of the delay though it appears that only within the last few days investigations into the matter have commenced.
Former Head Boy and Girl, Archibal Colquhoun and Aisling Jones told this reporter the same story; missing results and no word as to why. Thankfully for the two they have been able to find work without their NEWT results though others have not been as lucky.
Aoife O’Keeffe, Headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, told The Daily Prophet she had been previously unaware of the concerns until raised by a sixth year student directly to the Department of Magical Education.
“It is a very immediate concern that many students are missing their OWL and NEWT results,” O’Keeffe told The Daily Prophet. “Hogwarts has been in contact with the Department of Magical Education and we are hoping for a thorough investigation into these claims.”
The Head of Examinations, former Hogwarts Professor Arklin Owsley, was approached for comment. Whilst strongly advising The Daily Prophet to drop the article, Mister Owsley also attempted to claim that the issue was untrue, and yet also not yet in the public knowledge, though clearly the claims of Mr Owsley are false following multiple reports from new graduates alone.
In a shocking twist Mister Owlsey threatened The Daily Prophet reporter, Saffron Foxclaw;
“I don’t know how you came about it, but I suggest you keep quiet, and not speak on which you don’t know. Nothing worth putting in the Prophet”
If this reporter was aghast at the notion that a Ministry official would attempt to quash an important publication there was more to come.
Assistant to the Minister for Magic, Michel St Jours’s official statement was miles apart from the subversive tone that the conversation took. In place of this exposé I was offered insider information on upcoming laws however The Daily Prophet declined the offer. Mister Owsley appeared to further dig his own hole by telling the Minister for Magic’s Assistant that the claims brought to them were entirely falsified first by an angry ex-wife and more importantly by a disgruntled student – one who apparently has been chosen as the British Youth Representative of the Wizengamot. The plot thickens, is this student a liar – as purported by Mister Owsley – or a trusted young witch by the higher ups of Hogwarts?
Regardless of this, Michel St Jours reassured the public that, in regards to the missing grades;
“If that is the case, I want it sorted and each remaining examination result delivered before the weekend.”
Despite whispers of destroyed papers after the Hogwarts attack last June, funding cuts affecting the Department of Education’s workforce, and rumours of lost results due to the Departments frequency of Leaky Cauldron visits, this may be the least of the new Minister for Magic’s problems following this reporter’s experience of blackmail and bribery within the Ministry.
Good luck to all students awaiting their results, hopefully there will be cause to celebrate come Monday.
Dragon Dealing Gone Wrong
The atmosphere in the lower chambers of the Ministry of Magic was a sombre one this Sunday afternoon as Mardella Wraith, 31, was brought to the Wizengamot on charges of dragon breedings and dealing a Class-A non tradeable item; a dragon egg. The Wizengamot appeared entirely unaffected by Ms Wraith’s heart rending story of unwell family back in America. If she is to be believed she was offered the opportunity to sell a stranger a dragon egg – after stumbling across a dragon and her eggs – to help fund her muggle relative’s treatment however she declined. Though admitting to contemplating the offer, Ms Wraith never sold a dragon’s egg and yet, interestingly, still ended up in front of the Wizengamot. Despite no evidence that Ms Wraith had bred dragons nor actually trading dragon eggs she was found guilty of conspiracy to trade dragon eggs.
It appears that the inaction of the Ministry in some regards has led to wild overreaction and overzealous action in others. I would strongly advise every witch and wizard carefully watch their actions and thoughts – either legal or otherwise – if this case is anything to go by.
