Hello everyone – thank you all for joining in on the return of Hogwarts Spotlight! To start things off, I pulled a random Gryffindor and asked them plenty of questions so that we can get to know them. Starting us off is Glenn Avery – a fourth year Gryffindor. He hails all the way from Otter St. Catchpole, along with his sister Remi, who is a fourth year Slytherin.
Getting back to Glenn, he feels that Gryffindor is the best fit for him because of his politeness and honestly. With those along with daring that sometimes causes him to end up with broke noses, he definitely fits the bill. On the other side, he feels like he might belong with his sister in Slytherin, only due to the rumour of us having wild parties. Outside of parties and daring-dos and since this is a Tri-wizard Tournament year, he feels that he would fit in well with Durmstrang.
Now on to his life at school. His favourite subject is Defence Against the Dark Arts, relating it to a broken nose and the chance that he could’ve a Dragon Egg back in Macauley’s class. This love for Defence is part of why he wants to become a Hit Wizard. “When I am grown up, I want to join the Magical Law Enforcement – I think that is why I love D.A.D.A so much!” On this topic, one of his fears is losing people, so it seems to be a good idea to go into a job where you can do a lot to protect them.
As for how he spends his time outside of playing Quidditch. He further explained his love for quidditch by adding on, “Quidditch is a great workout and gets you [into] shape! Also, it teaches you how to fly if you have to chase someone.” Seems like he is still thinking about becoming a Hit Wizard even when flying. Well, once he becomes one, he can look back at what he calls his favourite memory – seeing the boat rising up out of the water, when the Durmstrang students arrived. “I would love to sail, myself,” he explained.
Now, along with the favourite memory, he did divulge about his other favourite stuff. For his favourite ice cream flavour, he loves cherry. As for regular sweets, he sticks with the basic but still amazingly good Chocolate frogs. Being a Quidditch player myself, I had to ask him what his favourite team was, to which he quickly answered back, grin and all, with the Falmouth Falcons. Lastly, he said his favourite music had to be Electronic Music – music made with muggle electricity for those of you that don’t know.
With the interview coming to an end, I asked him if he was dating anyone or if he was taking anyone to the next dance. “I am not dating anyone, and I do not have someone to go to the ball with me. Can I use this moment to do a call if someone wants to [go] with me?” he answered with a smirk and a chuckle.
Well, if you are looking for someone to be friends with, or even date, Glenn Avery is your person. He loves flying (which is amazing to do with someone, take my word), chocolate frogs (who doesn’t), and is willing to protect you. This daring Gryffindor is definitely someone you all should meet.
Until next time!
