For those that were not at dinner last night you may be wondering why our guests from Durmstrang are on edge right now (if you even see any of them at all!). So I want to help keep things from getting worse by explaining what I saw.
At Dinner last night the Headmaster of Durmstrang and Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts were in the hall chatting at the head table. Just before Homemaking class was to start Essa walked to the head table and then cast a cutting spell at the headmaster and it connected. He fell back out of his chair clutching his neck and bleeding profusely. For any that watched her actions and saw her afterwards it was clear she was not herself, and under some sort of control.
The Headmaster was in pain and lost a substantial amount of blood, but thanks to our healers and some quick thinking students on hand with the First aid kits that we had just received today, he did not die. He is alive and resting in the Hospital ward.
Essa was stopped, I’m not sure who by exactly, but she was frozen where she stood after the spell was cast. After ensuring that the Headmaster was being taken care of, Professor Blighty came up and undid the spell and asked why. Essa then accused Gabriel Engström of being the one to have told her to do it; one of Durmstrang’s own, and their second champion!
None of Durmstrang believed this. And neither do I. I feel the most likely scenario is the same person that bespelled Essa to attack the Headmaster also bespelled her to accuse Gabriel. But they are understandably quite angry about what happened. Both the attempt and the accusation.
To give Durmstrang credit they did not attack Essa, despite their anger at what happened. Though some others on the scene felt they might and tried to take matters into their own hands to stop them and a few spells did get cast but not at Essa herself.
Deputy Headmistress Blighty had Beauxbatons student, Seraphine, escort Essa away and then requested Gabriel to join her. He insisted on not going alone and took Dagmar with him. They all went into the basements and I don’t know what happened there.
It’s no secret that Durmstrang’s time here at Hogwarts has not been the best; their deputy headmistress is in jail for casting an Unforgivable Curse on their own Champion. And we all know their beloved Headmaster Golvin was murdered by someone still at large. They are angry, and hurt, and upset, and I imagine no longer feeling safe or even wanted here. Please do not make things worse by asking them questions, accusing them of things or just in general bothering them unless it’s clear they want to be approached. Additionally Essa Nazari should be afforded the same respect as the investigation remains ongoing.
Deputy Headmistress Blighty, and I’m sure by now Headmistress O’Keeffe, have matters in hand. Please make their jobs easier by not starting fights or making accusations with no proof of what happened. But also on that note, if you have ANY real evidence of who might be behind this, go to them as soon as you can!
