The love hate relationship that we all have with September and Back to School. We’ve bleft the fun behind, the warmth of summer is almost gone and the fashion freedom is no more. Over the last few months, we’ve had total control over what we’ve chosen to wear. As soon as school time is announced, we knew that it’s that time to don the ole house uniforms again. Not that I hate my uniform. I love it and what it represents. But, I digress. Back to the problem at hand! Fashion. It’s true that our fashion sense and choices are limited during class hours. Yet on the bright side, we do get a few hours downtime at night and weekends to start to figure out what our style is going to be all about. Have you already figured it all out? I haven’t!
We’re leaving Summer behind. But, are we? I mean, isn’t this a time of transition? We can bring a little bit of Summer with us, I promise! Think, Capris. It’s the perfect season for Capri pants! Any and all can wear them with ease. Ok, maybe not the Mers and Centaurs. After all, they aren’t too good in water. And, wearing Capris into the forest you’d get your legs all nicked up and maybe a few bug bites. Not that we’d ever go into the forest. No, not a single one of us would do that.
What’s so great about Capris? Comfort. Not too hot, not too cold. They are versatile. You can go casual, comfort or dress them up! From a nice tee top and sneakers to a posh blazer and dressy shoes. It’s really all up to you. Capris come in all colours, shapes and sizes. Everyone can own a pair. But, what if you don’t like Capris as much as I do? What then? Go Cropped. Cropped pants stop right below the calf. Whereas, Capris stops at mid-calf. Some people find this unflattering or constrictive. Cropped pants are a great alternative. Just roll the cuffs and be on your way.
Let’s talk colour! What’s in this season? Red is numero uno! Cherry Red and Dark Wines are the top picks. Next up, Powder blue and Navy. Followed closely by about a billion shades of Grey. I figure we get enough Grey in our usual uniforms, so I’m leaning towards powder blue and cherry red. Colour glamour don’t? One word, Neon. For the most part, all of the neon colours of Summer just won’t do it for this year’s Fall season. Yet, the most important thing is that you feel good in whatever colour that you choose to wear.
On a side note: I wonder if I could get a hold of some cherry red lip gloss. Another thing to put on the to-do list. That’s it from the Fashion Bug. That’s me! Once a month, we’ll be here to talk about fashion, make up and/or the art of putting it all together. Next month: October and New Arrivals!
