Adam Fletcher – Professional Beater for the Agincourt Axes
Life beyond Hogwarts. Are you sure you want to know?
For the younger years, you’d have only heard of me through stories, but for the older years I was Fletch: Grand Sorcerer, Head Boy, silver tongued casanova, Slytherin’s star Beater (if you don’t count Perse) and one of Fischer’s biggest headaches. During my time at Hogwarts, I did it all.
I finished with a good batch of O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s to my name, and I entered the wider world with dreams of inventing, of starting a family, of fame and glory. None of that panned out.
The thing with Hogwarts is that for seven years your world is within those cold stone walls. It’s finite, it’s under control. Outside, past Hogwarts, there’s so much going on and so much to juggle, eventually you drop something, and you end up surrounded by debris and shattered dreams.
I’m alone these days. I play Quidditch professionally for some French team that needed a Beater with a pretty face, but it’s not out of passion. To survive in this world, you have to use whatever you have at your disposal. I could’ve become an Auror with my grades and my dueling prowess, but I’ve never been big on the Ministry. And besides, I needed to get away from everything. This is the best I can do with what I have.
I suppose if I was to give any advice on how to live beyond Hogwarts, I would say, remember what’s important and don’t lose focus on that. I was spinning too many plates when I left Hogwarts, and I ended up neglecting the wrong plates. Always onwards though, never back.
And no, I won’t give anyone free tickets to any Quidditch matches.
[Editor’s Note- I’d best get free tickets for all the bollocks I put up with from you else it’ll be another broken nose when I see you next.]
