I know this bird hasn’t written to you all in a while because, well there hasn’t been much to report on, until today it would seem. As Sunday feast started you could feel a dark ominous cloud above the castle even if you couldn’t see it, you could feel it. And if you couldn’t see it or feel it you were quick to become aware of it as the Deputy Headmistress began her speech. As she began to speak in a clear accent you could hear the importance of meaning of what she was saying “Facts become rumours, rumours become gossip, gossip becomes lies, and lies spread hatred.” clearly caught most of the students off guard as whirls of whispers spread around the hall, curiosity getting the best of them all, I am sure. Her next words was surely not even thought of or heard as she pointed out house points, because after a statement like that is made who cares about house points? As silence came back over the crowd we would learn that a student, one of our own have been taken by the hag that had been taunting us with fear most of the term. As if that wasn’t enough to shatter our false sense of security the next sentence would. The mention of our dear beloved castle closing its doors, with those words spoken you could almost feel the castle ache with the thought of losing its students and a sudden chill ran through it.
So far this speech has given us students too much to think about, but it was not over yet, as our Deputy headmistress spoke the hag’s name revealing at last who this woman was that was giving us all nightmares “Eleanor Lovelace”. As soon as her name was spoken the students were informed she had been of their castle, a victim of a wolf’s attack before getting to enjoy herself as a free witch outside these walls. Almost seems that history is repeating itself with another student, whoever it may be. I sat to write this article before doing any further investigation of who was missing. There was a brief pause in the speech before the announcement of the last upcoming Hogsmeade trip to be cancelled. In fact, there was word to not even attempt visiting Hogsmeade even if you were of age to travel alone. It is also expressed that if you wish to be about castle grounds to perhaps have an adult by your side along with your own wand, as the castle is easier to penetrate than previously thought.
Once again, and I will gladly echo the words of our tired deputy headmistress, it is our duty to express vigilance against these things that are determined to bring us down, there is more of us than one single witch. Being divided will no longer help us, not that it did before, but now more than ever we need to come together as one to overcome this darkness that threatens our happiness and our lives. To the student who is missing, whoever you are, I am in hopes the centaurs will agree to help look for you and hopes you are found whether it be dead or alive….
