Gross Negligence of Faculty Leads to Confusion, Scarred Memories
By Dieudonne Blancourt,
Sunday Morning, 19th November. The most anticipated day of the month: The day when the student body is free to take the journey to Hogsmeade for a day of laughter and camaraderie, butterbeer and Honeydukes. That is what was expected this morning, and for some, it was the case. For others, however, they were met with a horrifying sight, shocking to even the most seasoned wixen.
A trail of blood was sighted along the side of the road, leading just into the forest. An alarming sight, but one the brave and tender hearted could not help but investigate, should there be a person or perhaps an adorable bunny injured and in trouble. What the students were not expecting, however, was the sheer visage of torture and death.
Reportedly, the body was not mutilated as if from an animal bite, but it was in such a state that it was nearly skeletal, so much so that its identity nor even its gender could not be ascertained. And there was blood. A horrific red stain upon a snowy landscape, like a morbid rendition of the Japanese flag. “There wasn’t any bite marks or anything on it. It looked almost tortured. From like the cruciatus curse,” one eyewitness stated.
And thus the search for an appropriate adult began. Where was the faculty? The official escort? Once someone was found, many had already seen the terrible, terrible sight, and even afterward, Hogsmeade weekend continued, rather than the students being escorted back to the castle just in case the killer—likely one or more dark wixen—was still out there, hunting for innocent prey. And what is more innocent than the youth of Hogwarts?
“They way they ushered us off like it was no big deal… Didn’t even check if we were ok.” said one terrified young woman, a normally stalwart individual who has faced down danger on many an occasion. She was left to be escorted by other students, afraid to venture back into the woods without someone there with her.
This is a tragedy, a sign of dark days to come. We have weathered dark days before. Again and again, the Wixen of Britain have rose up together to face the evils of the world. But have they forgotten us? The future generation, still forming our opinions about the world and learning how to defend ourselves? If we, the youth of the wizarding world are left unprotected, to face darkness alone, to see naught but death with no guiding lights around us, how many of us will join the darkness when there is no other option but to fall victim to it?
