Ministry Tightens Trace Accuracy: Parents Urged to Monitor Underage Magic Use
There are unconfirmed reports that the Improper Use of Magic and the Department of Magical Transportation are rumoured to have joined forces in a renewed effort to crack down on underage magic outside of Hogwarts. Ministry insiders, who have asked to remain anonymous, suggested to The Daily Prophet that improvements have been made to the Trace to make it significantly more accurate in pinpointing who cast the magic and where.
This collaborative initiative reportedly emerged in response to a rise in incidents involving unsupervised spells, accidental Summonings, and questionable broomstick use in Muggle-adjacent areas. The refined Trace is believed to now distinguish more clearly between the magic of children and that of nearby adults, reducing false alarms and allowing the Ministry to act with greater precision.
While no official statement has been released, and The Ministry of Magic declined to comment, parents are advised to take these rumours seriously. If your child is home for the holidays or between terms, ensure that magical objects are secured and spells are not being cast without direct supervision. Repeated violations of the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery could result in heavy fines or, in serious cases, expulsion from school.
The message is clear: keeping your child’s wandwork in check is not just a matter of safety, but of legal responsibility.

“Haggis” Sighting Stir Curiosity at Hogwarts – Allegedly
Unconfirmed reports continue to circulate following last month’s alleged discovery of a magical creature – dubbed a “haggis” – on the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Rumour has it that several of the creatures were spotted near the edges of the Forbidden Forest. Some claim a handful were even captured by students, though no official record has been made available, and all such accounts remain unsubstantiated.
The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures has yet to comment, though whispers within the Ministry suggest an inquiry may be underway. If true, it could raise serious concerns under the ban on experimental breeding, especially if the so-called “haggis” proves to be the result of magical crossbreeding gone awry.
For now, the Ministry maintains silence, Hogwarts staff are tight-lipped, and the wizarding world is left with more questions than answers. Whether the “haggis” exists – or is simply the product of overactive student imaginations – remains to be seen.
Apparitions Refresher
The Department of Magical Transportation has confirmed that this year’s Summer Apparition Refresher Course will be held on 2nd August at 1pm, at the Ministry of Magic. The session is open to adult wixen, and students who were unable to sit their Apparition exam earlier in the year but have already completed the course.
Whilst attendance on the 2nd is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended, especially for those planning to take the exam on 3rd August at 1pm in Godric’s Hollow.
All attending the exam must be 17 years of age by 3rd August.
The course is free for students who have already paid and completed the course at Hogwarts. Adult participants may attend for a fee of 14 Galleons.
