Classes, Clubs, & Purple Events
There are three primary event types (amongst other event types on our calendar):
- Sim-Wide Events – Purple (also known as Purple Events)
- Classes – Orange
- Clubs – Brown/House Colour
Purple events are “sim-wide events” which take priority over other events that may have been scheduled for that date.
Purple events are including, but not limited to:
- The Sorting Ceremony
- The Hogwarts Express Train Ride
- Hogsmeade Weekend
- Quidditch Matches
- School Parties or Bashes
- Sunday Lunch
- Ministry of Magic Events
- Godric’s Hollow Markets
Classes are held by Professors. They must abide by the following rules:
- Classes are limited to an hour, unless previously agreed by the Admin or Manager of IC staff
- Classes should have a minimum of 15 minutes between them to allow students to walk to the next classroom
- Weekend classes do not usually happen, unless approved OOCly by Admin or Manager of IC staff, or a pre-approved Ministry event (i.e. Apparitions, or Patronus Classes, etc)
- Classes may not overlap each other
- Classes may, in some instances, overlap clubs
Clubs may be held by professors, or students. They include, but are not limited to:
- House Hangouts
- House Quidditch Practices
- Dueling
- The Owl Post
- Healers Club
- Yearbook
- etc.
They must abide by the following rules:
- At the start of the year, all clubs must be reapplied for prior to being put onto the calendar
- Clubs are limited to an hour, unless previously agreed by the Admin or Manager of IC staff
- Clubs are limited to once a week. The only exemption to this rule is the week of a Quidditch Match, whereby the playing teams may have one additional practice
- Clubs may not overlap classes
- Clubs may overlap each other, however it is a request out of courtesy that this is avoided
- Quidditch Practices may not overlap each other. Joint Quidditch Practices should be avoided prior to the first two matches of the season.
- If a new member of IC staff joins the Faculty, a club/team may be asked to give their timeslot on the calendar to ensure the new Professor has an appropriate time to hold class
Timing
Most calendar events at Mischief Managed run for an hour, unless specified otherwise
Classes and clubs that need to run longer than an hour need prior approval from Sim Admins or Managers.
Events may be scheduled to be open ended with prior approval (i.e. parties, sim events, etc)
Scheduling
Scheduled events must end at the time that has been stated on the calendar, as a courtesy to other players who may wish to use the space you are occupying, in addition to people planning their time with expectations as to how long an event is going to last based on what is on the calendar.
If you go over by 5-10 minutes to wrap things up, that’s ok!
Events must also not carry on in an “unofficial” capacity after the time, for example adding on an “unofficial” quidditch practice immediately after an official one. If you wish for your class, club, practice, etc, to go longer than what is ordinarily permitted (1 hour), it must be approved by management ahead of time.
In some cases, such as parties, it may be permissible for the event to not have an explicit end time, but this must be agreed upon with management prior to scheduling.
Unoccupied Spaces and Unofficial Events
If there is nothing else scheduled after your event you may continue to use the space in an unofficial capacity, however the initial event must be wrapped up and dismissed first. For example a professor may elect to stay behind in their classroom to chat with students so long as there is nothing going on after their class, or you may stay on the pitch after practice to continue to casually take shots. This is not intended to be a continuation of your event.
If your event has ended and another group wishes to use the space you were previously occupying, you are expected to give way to them as a courtesy. Scheduling conflicts and disputes over space should be taken to Moderators, who will have the final say.
Calendar Event Requests
If you would like an event to be added to the MM calendar that is OFF or ON SIM please read the below and submit via the Calendar Event Request form.
The Admins at Mischief Managed are aware that over summer, and indeed throughout the year, many of our members roleplay on their own personal sim or homes.
Any event that is on sim and has been approved by an OOC staff member/Department Head/Head of House does NOT need to be submitted here. The IC or OOC staff member who has approved your event should be the one to add it to the calendar for you
Rules:
– If you wish to have an event on the calendar it should be open to all, if it’s not you would need to send private invites and it will not be able to be put on the MM calendar. The exemption for this is adult only events.
– By holding any event off sim that is linked to Mischief Managed you agree to abide by our sim rules, therefore you consent to the potential of moderators of RPD moderating clothing, or ongoing events, etc
– Any roleplay that does not fit into HP or MM canon, or if there are concerns with happenings off sim, can be voided
– On providing an SLURL, an admin or manager may visit briefly to ensure it is a suitable location
Additionally: Any off sim RP that does not need a calendar event* is now allowed to be part of MM canon so long as it is line with the sim’s established guidelines regarding Student/Adult conduct and Canonical contributions.
* (RPing exploring a sim as your RP character, having friends over to hang out IC, etc)
Please allow up to a week for events to be added to the calendar, if your event is happening in under a week’s time please tag a manager in “tag a staff” on discord
