Or how the thieving Puffs got into the castle.

It was Sunday and the monthly trip into Hogsmeade . Thank goodness it wasn’t a blizzard like going home for break! Time to stock up on all the things you cant get in the castle.
As students got into town, we all noticed an unusual amount of light brown pygmy puffs lounging all about it. Which is kinda unusual as Pygmy puffs aren’t a wild critter. You usually only see them in pet stores. Some people went and tried to pet them, which was super easy to do. The puffs clung to those people like that muggle Velcro stuff. Even if you put them down they went right back to whoever picked them up first.
Then the wings came and an whole FLOCK of cute as heck fluffy and feathery critters that looked half owl half bear or large cat landed all over Hogsmeade. I’ve see one of the owlbear things before, in a cage by the river. I;m pretty sure Tybalt wants one. They are super cute but I dunno what they are. ANYWAY Large prey animals started to eye the puffs about. Dinner time it seemed.
Some Adult in a coat started trying to get us all into the pub. Some went, but a lot of us went to rescue the puffs from becoming dinner. There was chaos! Panicking! A message sent to the Ministry, that of course took time to get there! Some of us had SO MANY Puffs clinging to them. I think Muriel had like 6 and some even more!. And no matter how many times you put them down or tried to give them away, ZIP right back into a pocket!
Somehow the bigger critters got it into their heads it’s not dinner time, just as someone from the Ministry showed up and started to catch and cage them up to take someplace else. But lots of them are still about town.
And all the puffs we picked up went back to the castle with us. I put the one I got into my rat Peaseblossom’s cage. The next morning her wheel was missing.
And THAT is how the little thieves got into the castle. We all gave them a free ride into a warm and cozy place with LOTS to steal.
