O: My cat seems to have a thing for pepperoni or cheese. To the point he keeps absconding with some at lunch. But not just that he’s stolen sweets from my bag! I think he eats them. Not sure where he takes them. Is it ok for him to have it?
I’ve never had a cat myself, so I can’t tell you from experience. I may be wrong, however, I believe your cat is smart enough, it does seem quite clever, to know what is good or bad for it. If it eats something that makes it feel bad then it won’t likely eat that thing anymore. If it is continuous behavior then I would suspect that it is fine. This is for the candy side of things. As for the pepperoni and cheese, cats are well known for their affinity to dairy products as well as meat. So I see no problem with them eating that.

Hide the cheese and pepperoni from your cat asap. Despite them loving their savory treat, it in the much larger picture is bad for them. The cheese alone could cause vomiting and diarrhoea and lets face it, we’ve seen enough hairballs in the castle that I personally would pass on helping my pet get sick. So, just a thought, save a sausage, enjoy it yourself. Just spare yourself the cleanup detail later.
