Let’s face it, everyone has questions that they are embarrassed to ask. Or you believe that you are alone in dealing with a situation. This is not true. Fickle Firsties is are the questions that you want to ask but aren’t sure how to.
Why is it every time I ask a professor a question, they say “later or that’s not important”?
Brushed off
Dear Brushed off,
It’s not important.
Seriously.
Sometimes, a professor says that because the topic that you are asking about doesn’t matter or is unimportant. Sometimes they don’t plan to talk about the topic that you are wanting to bring up is off topic and I know many of our professors (if not all of them) spend hours working on their lessons. Respect their time and understand that sometimes the answer isn’t to brush you off but rather to keep on task and moving forward because often, it really is not that important.
I hope this helps,
A Former Firstie
