Welcome to this week’s installment of the Hogwarts spotlight, a feature dedicated to showcasing different student and professors throughout the school! Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with Professor Musibella Amai Ramotswe. Better known as Muse, Professor of Homemaking Magic. She is native of Africa but grew up in Lewisham, London.
Professor Muse, is a Hufflepuff 2006 Hogwarts Graduate. Prior to coming to work at the school, she found herself working odd jobs. Between bakeries and robe shops, she never truly felt she had found her career until coming back to Hogwarts to teach. As a student, she helped her Mother and Aunts take care of her many siblings, nieces, and nephews. This lead her on path of Homemaking Magic.
Her history paired with her hobbies, made her the perfect match for her position. In her free time, Muse enjoys baking, sewing, decorating, and grabbing an occasional beverage with her fellow Professor’s at Three B. She was also drawn to Hogwarts after hearing about how highly Professor Imani Rotich (Her Grandfather), spoke of his time teaching Ghoul studies.
When you are in her class, please be mindful not to waste material and ingredients. This along with disrespecting the worth of Homemaking Magic are the most irritating things a student could do in her class. Her favourite memories thus far, has been seeing the smiles and enthusiasm when a student achieves their goals. She shared “on the day of my first class I ran into a little first year Ravenclaw girl who I stopped to talk to. She told me that my smile and the colours I wear brighten up the castle. That was probably the best compliment I’ve ever had.”
During the interview, Professor Muse shared a very valuable piece of advice for all students, “Don’t underestimate yourself. You may be good at only a single thing, something others don’t consider useful, like domestic magic or charms and transfigurations that change your appearance. Don’t let anyone tell you that’s dumb and useless. You take that one thing and you put your everything into it and you show them just how spectacular that one thing can be.”
For the rapid-fire questions, Professor Muse shared that her favourite ice cream is Strawberry and Peanut Butter, her favourite sweet from Honeydukes is Sugared Butterfly Wings, and her favourite Professional Quidditch team is The Sumbawanga Sunrays, “They are a thrill to watch!”.
Patient, kind, and overall delightful, give you the makeup of Musibella Amai Ramotswe. If you aren’t taking her class this term, I would highly recommend it for next! She is a professor worth knowing and is always willing to help a student. Tune in next week to see who Rylan Worthington tracks down for an interview.
