This week features Murtlap Essence- a simple essence made from the pickled and strained Murtlap tentacles. It is one of the first “go to” potions in any healers arsenal and is good for healing cuts, burns, and small lacerations. The key is getting the relatively rare Murtlap Tentacles to make the essence but the process itself is fairly simple, able to be made by any 4th year Student .
The Impervius Charm is great for Spring weather, making any object waterproof or even your own face shielded from water. This spell can be cast by any capable 5th year student and above.
Reparifarge is a spell capable of of being cast by those who have completed their second year at Hogwarts. It is used to correct unsuccessful transformations, but be advised repairing Human Transfigurations should be reserved for the Transfig Professor or the Matron, as life threatening complications may occur.
The Sopophorous plant is found in Gloomy marshlands, and grows especially well when furnished with mooncalf dung. The plant has large leaves with well developed veins that carry a reddish tint, attached to the a spindly stem. Near the base of the leaves are pods each containing a pearly white bean looking similar to a overgrown mistletoe berry.
It’s main use is the production of Sopophorous beans, an important ingredient in the Draught of Living Death. There is a common disagreement on the best way to drain the bean of it’s juices, by either crushing or slicing.
Cursed Artifacts are items that are either magical or muggle made, that have been charmed with any variety of effects from a simple jinx to the darkest of curses. When an artifact may be believed to be cursed, first off do NOT touch it directly. The use of several defensive spells can help detect and break the curse, a few examples being Salvio Hexia to detect the hex or curse , Finite Incantatem as a generic starting point, the Supersensory Charm to examine the item, and Specialis Revelio as a stronger option for generic Spell removal.
The astronomical report for this week: Mars and Saturn chase the Moon in the morning of the first part of the week , the Summer Triangle of Lyra, Cygnus, and Aquila returns to prominence, and a brilliant Venus takes center stage on the 14th, all in the sky this week.
Puffskeins and Pygmies, oh my! These cute little creatures are round in shape, covered in fur, and cuddly as can be. Not only are they great for cuddling but also enjoy being tossed about on occasion. They are easy to feed dining on anything from leftovers, to spiders, to even cleaning their owners’ nasal passages while they sleep. They will emit a low hum or even sometimes sing when content and a group is referred to as a Poffle. They can sometimes be shaved and the hair be used as a potion ingredient. The main complaint of puff owners is a nasty habit of drinking out of the toilet that has plagued them for quite some time
