We are back with another installment of Hogwarts Spotlight. This time we turn the light onto another Slytherin: Adelaide Lascelles.
Adelaide is a first year Slytherin that hails from somewhere in London. Compared to most people I’ve talked to, she is the only one where the hat had sorted her rather quickly. “Well, the Sorting Hat put me into Slytherin without hesitating even a second,” She explained with a smile on her face. However, when asked about what other house she might have been put in, she had a harder time answering. “To be honest, I can’t think of any other house to be in. If I must choose another, then it might be Ravenclaw. I am eager to learn as much as I can and research further out of class, if I find something interesting.” She continued on with a growing grin, “I am very happy with the hat’s decision – what do you think?” I think that the hat has placed her very well, especially with first hand experience.
Turning the conversation towards classes, she said that her favourite classes have to be Charms and Transfiguration – especially when we have practical classes. “I love trying new spells – It shows that I am improving whenever my spells work properly,” she explained with another smile on her face. With those subjects being in most careers, I asked what she planned to do. Originally, she wanted to become a healer and hopefully be a matron here but, most likely due to the latest events here at school, her mind has changed. “But now I want to study Potions more intensely and want to find a way to make Wolfsbane for more reasonable price. Not only the Wolfsbane, but also the other potions that are mandatory for some people. That way they can purchase those potions they need without financial difficulties…” She answered, before talking about how she wants to find new potions that could help with curing wounds and healing diseases better. “I know my thoughts on the future will keep changing as I grow up, and I am open to all the possibilities.”
Well, with her future being bright, I wondered what she memories she would be taking with her as she works towards her goals. With a bright pink blush, she said, “There are a lot of memories I cherish. One of them would be the Hearty Party and the Rosegram.” With Aiden Knight being the last Slytherin interviewed, it would seem that these memories were probably the beginning of their relationship. Besides hanging out with him, however, she likes to be in quiet places outside of classes, like the library or in the dorm room with her kittens.
Lastly, we ended the interview with the quick questions. For her favourite ice cream, she had a hard time picking either strawberry with chocolate syrup on top or vanilla with strawberry syrup and cheesecake toppings. As for candy like sweets, she said she loved Glacial Snow Flakes because of the feeling of them melting in her mouth. As for a favourite professional Quidditch team, however, she doesn’t have one. “I am not very fond of brooms myself so naturally I am not so interested in Quidditch.”
If you see Adelaide in the halls around school, wave and sell hello to her, maybe share some Glacial Snow Flakes, or help her reach her goal of becoming better with potions. Let this resourceful snake show you what she can do. Keep tuned as we put the spotlight back on a professor.
