Like those who hold stock in complementary zodiac signs, there are a few of us who find a great importance in complementary wands with a deeper meaning being woven beyond just the initial description of a wand wood.
Miss Eden Petrovski, Ravenclaw, may have passed you by silently in the halls in years passed. She is an odd and endearing character with beautiful wide eyes and an equally large heart. As a possessor of a beech wand they are universally known to be wise beyond their years, so true in Edie’s case who, carrying her notepad and quill, is unerring in her ability to write a word never wasted in pure advice and truth. Lysander Diaval, Slytherin, is one of equal silence (though for different reasons) and it appears he met a rather odd match in that of our Miss Edie. He was chosen by a black walnut wand which is not an easy wand wood to master which is telling in the attitude of Lysander; it is a wand that is exceptionally sympathetic and attuned to the inner monologue, thus performing poorly if the owner lies or performs any self-deception. Indeed, it’s been reported that many wands of this wood have had to pass to new owners to renew its life.
But what does this mean in terms of their relationship? Eden’s wand is for the open-minded and tolerant which, any who know Lysander personally might say is exactly the sort of person needed to get past his dry wit and aloof nature.
Lysander must have good instincts which at times could be needed when trying to interpret Eden’s meanings and tone. His good instincts should be equally balanced with an open and honest nature which is always an exceptionally positive attribute to have within a relationship as very few tolerate untruths, the girlfriend, nor the wand. Eden herself, as the holder of a beech wand is not a narrow minded young miss and is always open to change and adventure which Lysander would inevitably lead her towards. As one wise beyond her years, Eden is keenly attuned to the emotional balance, as those close to her may have noted, and Lysander has Eden close at hand to help maintain that, to ensure he does not have to seek another wand.
Overall it is an unusual coupling for a wand and not one I would have plucked from the air but one that overall appears very complimentary and will hopefully go far.
