Last year was so easy, are we in for something huge and horrible this year?
Oh boy, that’s a loaded question. In fact it’s such a big question that I need to do a massive twelve-card spread. So here it goes…
Last Year in Summary and What We Have Learned
Seven of Cups and Knight of Pentacles
Last year was a great year for regrouping and reevaluating ourselves. The year before last had disrupted our lives and made us do crazy things like attempting to hobble, smuggle, escape, and lie about everything. So with such a quiet year afterwards, we were left afraid that something bad could happen at any moment. Luckily, again, it was a quiet year and were able to breathe again. We learned that we can succeed, and that sometimes, things really will be just fine. This doesn’t mean we will stop being cautious, however.
Goals and Aspirations for the Year Ahead
There are no more cups than nine cups, I’m a seahorse, you can trust me
Nine of Cups
The Nine of Cups is traditionally known as the “Wish Card”, as in, “what you have wished for you will get”. All that stuff that we dreamed of in the Seven of Cups are what we want to come true. However, no matter what we really want, don’t expect any gifts. It’s really simple, honestly, all we really want is to be happy.
Allies and Enemies for the Year Ahead
Ace of Wands and The Tower (reversed)
How many times have you sat safely within the walls of your home, or even the walls of Hogwarts? Then, out of the blue, something happens that completely destroys your picture of peace and harmony. There is a sudden realisation that you’re not so safe as you believed you were. This is a humbling, frightening, but necessary experience. If the cards are to be believed, this year isn’t going to be so quiet. We will likely be warned in advance and and maybe even manage to get in the clear just in time. At least for a moment, anyway, so don’t think we will be out of the woods yet. If everyone misses or ignores first warning it will likely approach from a different angle the next time and may be much worse. On the bright side, the Ace of Wands say that won’t stop us. In fact, when this Ace arrives you might believe there is an earthquake just about to erupt beneath you. With this card comes a strong sense of self-belief, self-esteem and dazzling confidence. There comes a moment in everyone’s life when you just know you can’t be stopped, and this will be that moment.
Summary of the Year Ahead
Death (reversed), The Star, Judgement, and The Sun
This year the past will come back to haunt us, making us fearful and uneasy. We may feel powerless and pessimistic, with the threat of Death hanging about us. However, after the storm of the past, comes the calm of the Star. Our faith in ourselves and our safety will be restored and we’ll be free to approach life with a stronger sense of purpose. We may even come away with a great sense of hope for the future and a belief that tomorrow will be better. After such Judgement we may have a sudden realisation of how our past has created our present circumstances. This brings a powerful understanding that any actions taken from here on will also impact on our future. Be it welcome or not, good or bad, our harvest will be in and there is no denying it. It will be a time when we become aware of the bigger picture and not just immediate circumstances. Don’t let it get you down, though, we will have our day in the Sun, and things will brighten up again. There might be trouble this year, but there is no doubt we’ll come through and shine bright.
Biggest Need This Year
The Hanged Man (reversed)
A word of warning from the cards: each time a lesson is not learned, it will return to you again and again, but each time it returns it will have become even more challenging. This year we need to make sure to not lose faith in life and think it will never get any better. Remember, that life is constantly in motion and that the bad times will pass. This year we need to strive for acceptance, resignation, and a search for inner-peace. Before we know it, the difficult times will be over and life will pick up again. Don’t lose your way in your mind—you get the idea.
Most Important Lesson This Year
The World (reversed)
When the World is reversed, it still means success but the success may not be as good as you expected. There may be a bit of an anti-climax after achieving your goal and a feeling of not exactly getting a great sense of fulfillment out of the success. Success can still be yours so don’t give up and there may still be some challenges ahead. You must remember that life doesn’t stop once you have achieved success and there are other goals to achieve. Because when you hold the record for climbing the highest mountain, you can rest assured that there is someone already out there, trying to take that record from you. Similarly, just because we win this time, doesn’t mean we can get lazy. Next year might be even worse.
Queen of Wands
The Queen of Wands is no slouch, and it’s not just pure coincidence that she’s the queen of wands. The Queen of Wands is strong, bold, courageous and passionate. She is an independent, enterprising woman who is ready to take on whatever life throws at her. She is energetic, vivacious and high-spirited. Although she can seem authoritative and overwhelming at times, she is a joy to have around and breathes life and enthusiasm into all those she interacts with. Capable and competent she sets high standards for herself and those around her., and so we must also set high standards for ourselves. Are we going to let theoretical evils walk all over us? F—I was told to keep the language clean, so let’s just give it a strong no. Anyways, fair enough to say that we can beat the pants off or whatever comes at us, even if it can’t even wear pants.
