The International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, the document known far and wide that decrees that we magical folk all over the world remain hidden from mugglekind. But the statute is just a paper, have you ever wondered who ensures our secrecy is maintained? Well wonder no longer, that job belongs to us, the wizards of the Invisibility Task Force!
We work for the Ministry of Magic, under the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, and we’re not quite as well-known as our colleagues the Obliviators, who get sent out whenever something goes horribly wrong (lucky sods get all the glamour), but some might say we’re the backbone of the department, making sure things run smoothly.
From hiding Diagon Alley right in plain sight, to making sure major sporting events take place hidden under Muggle noses, even hiding away Azkaban to keep the Muggles safe, the fine witches and wizards of our task force ensure these staples of our kind are able to exist without violating the long running Statute or compromising our safety.
True, it’s not always the most exciting work, but if you’ve a knack for spellwork, subterfuge, and don’t mind the pressure of our important duties, then perhaps this is the profession for you! Of course, we don’t just take anyone into our ranks… due to the nature of our work, top scores in your Charms N.E.W.T.’s are an absolute must, and it doesn’t hurt to have a N.E.W.T., or at the very least an O.W.L in Muggle Studies; you’ll have to know how to pass yourself off as a Muggle at times, and don’t want to make a mess of things!
While not necessary, good marks in Care of Magical Creatures can also open up some new lines of work for you, as creature sanctuaries are also on our list of places to keep hidden, as well as Defense Against the Dark Arts; it’s rare, but we are sometimes called upon to travel into less than safe areas, and it’s always good to know how to defend yourselves.
Graduation is on the horizon for many of you, and if you’re still undecided on your future career, why not give us a try?
