Previously we had spoken of the beasts that lurk in the depths underneath Hogwarts. This time we will be talking about beasts that live somewhere forbidden. It doesn’t take a genius nor a Ravenclaw to figure it out. Yes! We are talking about the Forbidden Forest this week.
There are many beasts that are kept hidden, of course I may have to fill up the entire Owl Post with articles on them, but to make it easier for me and you, I have to decided to split it into two sections. This week’s adventures we will be discussing Werewolves, Acromantulas, Red Caps, and Bowtruckles!
When the full moon arrives, werewolves are just around the corner. Of course considering the news lately I thought what better than to talk about them! More so, how to spot a true wolf! Fierce and ferocious which is how we tend to describe them. In their human form they could be the most common student who would never consider harming anything or anyone, but upon transformation they leave that behind. That is not of course if they drink wolfsbane, which does not cure them neither prevent their transformation however it allows them to keep their human mind so that are more ‘relaxed’. A bite from one of these beasts is considered deadly. It may not kill you, but you may find yourself turning into one. Silver and dittany will of course seal the wound so that’s handy to have on you during a night of the full moon. The classification of a werewolf is XXXXX (which is only when in its wolf form). They are known killers, and impossible to domesticate and train. Not a pet nor something to mess with! Don’t go to the forest on a full moon, actually don’t even bother going outside.
Next is the Acromantula. We all have a fear of spiders, and you can easily step on one to get rid of it, but not this one. The Acromantula is a giant spider, and I mean GIANT. These monsters can speak human, but having a conversation with one may just get you eaten. They enjoy human flesh! Excitement for them will produce venom which is highly toxic. There is a known colony in the Forbidden Forest; these beasts are as dangerous as werewolves with a classification of XXXXX. Don’t go searching for them especially if you’re afraid of the tiniest spiders!
Something you may have heard of is a Red Cap. No, not one of those things muggles call hats! (My parents are muggleborn, it’s awesome!) Anyway, back to the subject. These dwarf like creatures like to be where blood has been shed. They linger in dungeons and castles, but trust me there’s none in the Slytherin commons nor the castle (or I hope not). There could be some in the Forbidden Forest though! And these beasts like to attack those who are lost. You can easily repel them with a charm or a hex, and a beautification potion! (They don’t like to be called pretty!) Their classification is XXX meaning they should be easy to cope with if you understand how to deal with one if you meet them!
Lastly, we have the Bowtruckle. Not easy to spot alike the rest of the beasts. Best describes as a stickman made of twigs and bark. Bowtruckles are guardians of their home trees. They protect trees that are used for wand woods. Bowtruckles are peaceful unless you threaten them or their tree! For someone to take wood or leaves from one of the trees Bowtruckles protect you must offer the Bowtruckle woodlice or fairy eggs as a distraction! Their classification is XX meaning they are harmless, but don’t go making them angry of taking wood from their tree! How would you like it if someone stole something you were trying to protect???!
That’s all for this week, check back next week to learn about some more magical Hogwarts Beasts!
Until next time!
