Welcome to Saturday Study session! Each Saturday, your lovely Owl Post writes up the Homework of the week!
Let’s get right to it!:
Potions with Professor Zemeckis:
Find out how we can use basilisk eggs as an ingredient for the skin. spurred on by Helena Arlet’s theory about the eggs having properties beneficial for certain skin ailments.
Transfigurations with Professor Von Der Vogelweidhof:
Write a BRIEF essay about the Four Brands that come from Transfiguration and add some bibliography as well.
Herbology with Professor Gaelyth:
Name five plants/herbs useful for the purposes of healing and describe why you think they are useful.
Alchemy with Professor Norma:
No homework, but I suggest go over what was learned last term as a refresher.
History of magic with Professor Digby:
Read about the middle ages and into the first crusade. Not really homework, but nice to be prepared.
Charms With Gothly :
Homework: Year 1 – 4: Write at minimum a 2 paragraph essay on when it is possible to use Accio without line-of-sight and supply an example.
Year 5: Same as Years 1 – 4. Also, write a 3 paragraph essay on the Unforgivable Curses. Be as detailed as possible.
All years: Continue filling out your spell notebooks
Extra Credit: Given the information we know about the 3 Unforgivable Curses, and how the first two may be deflected through Occlumency, I’d like to concentrate on the Killing Curse.
What do YOU think it does?
Where does it attack?
What kind of magic is involved or charm/spell, that would cease all life instantly?
What branch of magic would be best to create some kind of shield or counter-curse for this?
Please realize this is all speculation, so your imagination is key. Give me 2 charms, spells, or curses (made up or a variation of ones we know) that with skill and practice might be able to deflect or directly counter Avada Kadavra.
Please be sure to answer all of the above questions in your response along with your charms.
Mythology with Professor Dragomirov:
pick one ‘myth’ so to speak of our world and research it from a Muggle perspective. The professor would like you all to deliver your research in the form of whatever you’d like. A musical, a contemporary dance, a floating stuffed unicorn.
