It seems to be a big topic at Hogwarts: “What are you going to wear to the annual Yule Ball?” Wether you’re a Hogwarts-, Beauxbatons- or Durmstrang student, you will have to think about this sooner or later!
What do you have to think about while picking an outfit for the Yule Ball tomorrow, on the 7th of December? A few points speak for themselves, but have you thought it through well enough?
- OOC rules
- Your character’s blood status
- Your character’s personality
Always keep in mind that we are still trying to maintain a PG environment. This doesn’t mean that you need to cover up entirely, wear a turtleneck and a dress that doesn’t even show your ankles – but it does mean that you need to be careful with what you wear. If your skin has a very deep cleavage and you are planning on wearing a low-cut dress with it: try to cover it up a bit with a see-through texture top underneath it or look around on the marketplace for a flat-chest layer. If your dress isn’t covering your butt, don’t wear it! In fact, we’d prefer to see dresses that are at least half-calf length at the Yule. Just think about it, be PG, apply some common sense; and done!
Your character’s blood status
It is common for Pureblooded wizards to wear dress robes instead of Muggle clothes. Of course, you can choose not to apply this at the Yule ball – but it is fun to consider looking around for dressrobes!
Dress robes are a formal variety of robes worn by witches and wizards for special occasions. Most dress robes for boys had a formal black robe with a white, buttoned-down shirt underneath. Girls’ dress robes were basically prom dresses instead of traditional robes.
Your character’s personality
Well, this one speaks for itself, does it not? Is your character a tomboy, a rather female-like guy, shy or extremely full of him- or herself? Is he rich, is she poor? Would her parents even be able to afford a dress? Who knows, your character may have already even touched the chicken on one of the tables and now has a big greasy spot on her white dress! Ah, so many possibilities – so much to roleplay!
The Admins & RPD of Mischief Managed wish you an amazing roleplay expierence at the annual Yule Ball, and hope you will all have a lot of fun in our beautifully decorated Great Hall. It’s the perfect opportunity to place your character in a different setting. Have fun, and hopefully, see you tomorrow!
